I have wanted to learn to paint on glass for many years and just recently found the most wonderful instructor, Mark Hufford. He has published two books on his techniques and included many practice projects, as well as created an entire video series to accompany the books. Not only is he an accomplished artist, he is also a great teacher. If you are interested in finding out more about him, look him up on his website at MSHDESIGNS.com.  The gnomes and cats were created using his silkscreens and most of the projects below are my efforts at the practice pieces found in his books or video series. As a visual learner, I found the video series to be an incredible aid to learning from his books.

Really happy with his expression. My first attempt at blending and bubbles.

Gnomes silkscreens and then painted. Cute ornaments.

These were created for work. Silkscreened cats and then painted according to the five element theory found in Traditional Chinese medicine. The green is the Wood element for spring, the red is Fire for summer, the tan is Earth for harvest, the grey represents the Metal element for autumn and the blue is Water for winter. They will be placed around the ying yang in the proper order of the Sheng Cycle and put into a shadow box.

Super happy with these guys as they are my first attempt to free hand paint and add in some murrini for texture. They are using Mark's silkscreens, then painted, the flowers are my own and I used some techniques that were new to me. They are pot stakes for my house plants.
